Sophia Venables is a self-proclaimed “word nerd” living in Spanish Harlem. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2021 from Loyola Marymount University with a B.A. in Psychology, then went on to teach English in Spain as a NALCAP grant recipient. A proud “Elder Mentee” of the 2023-2024 Girls Write Now Collaboratory, Sophia’s preferred mediums are poetry and stand-up comedy. When she is not writing, Sophia works full time at a global nonprofit law firm, the Center for Reproductive Rights. Sophia is fluent in Spanish (C2 level) and proficient in Italian (B1 level).
