2–4 PM ET

online event; open to Mentees & Mentors in Writing 360

What is a haunted house? Why is a haunted house…well, haunted? In this workshop, Author Cynthia “Cina” Pelayo will discuss some characteristics of what makes a house haunted. We will examine works of literature and film that exemplify this trope, before moving into the creation of a piece of short fiction about a haunted house. Other elements we will discuss are genre—what is horror, what is mystery, what is a thriller? Can we mix genres? We’ll even touch on True Crime Poetry. Additionally, we will discuss word lengths for different genres of short fiction as well as how to submit fiction to publications.
