With the launch of our in-house digital publishing platform, Stories by Girls Write Now, we’re excited to announce an opportunity for an enthusiastic and editorially savvy Girls Write Now community member! This one-year, virtual residency will be a contract role compensated at $20/hour.
You must be…
- A Girls Write Now mentee or mentor, current or alum
- Aged 18+
- Able to commit 8-10 hours/month to the role—120 hours at most, August 2022 – July 2023
- An experienced communicator, creative and curator who has demonstrated a deep commitment to our mission to amplify and center diverse voices
In this role, you will be expected to…
- Work closely with the pairs of the Publishing 360 program’s editorial team & GWN staff to:
- develop an Editorial Calendar for the upcoming program year that will echo across the organization
- update the website homepage and Stories homepage on a regular basis to feature content & collections that align with the Editorial Calendar
- edit and finalize a collaborative Editors’ Letter that communicates our commitments as a publisher, co-drafted by the Publishing 360 cohort
- build out & maintain Collections around topics that are important to our community
- Ideate new ways to promote Stories and share our community’s work across channels
- Play a key role in branding and design decisions as we continue to develop a multimedia home for our community’s content
- Top edit select work and occasionally write editorial pieces on behalf of Girls Write Now, but for the most part, little writing or editing of individual pieces
- Co-lead the Diversity Committee’s communications sub-committee with a focus on creating guidelines for inclusive, anti-racist verbal and visual and messaging.
