This is a full time position based in New York City. Due to the nature of the role, it is largely in-person with some flexible remote work to be arranged in line with Girls Write Now’s new hybrid work policies.

Position Summary
The Girls Write Now Operations Manager oversees all activities that take place at the organization’s New York City headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, as well as related operational work for virtual staff and programs. The Operations Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a warm, welcoming and healthy space for Girls Write Now staff as they return to office, for Girls Write Now in-person programming for mentors and mentees, and for the larger community as we explore how our space can provide a haven and hub for writers and allies throughout the city. The Operations Manager will also serve as deputy to the Talent Director helping to recruit new staff, and maintain and build out new policies and procedures designed to support the growing Girls Write Now team.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Talent Director, and working closely with Systems & IT, the Operations Manager will:
- Roll out back-to-office plan for staff, including development and execution of: new safety protocols and hybrid schedules; space renovation; and A/V approaches for effective hybrid programming.
- Assist with planning, budgeting, and fundraising for renovations of the physical space.
- Be the logistical point for in-person workshops, classes, exhibitions and events, including implementation of scheduling procedures.
- Supervise the seamless delivery of A/V technology, working closely with colleagues and partners to ensure smooth and effective experiences for all visitors to Girls Write Now, both in-person and virtual.
- Help imagine, research, develop, and execute a plan for the Girls Write Now headquarters that will support NYC’s larger community of writers and allies, and function in sync with the organization’s virtual expansion.
- Represent Girls Write Now interests and manage relations with our building landlord and super, all Girls Write Now vendors and insurance companies, and IT/AV service providers in coordination with our Systems & IT department.
- Serve as direct support for Talent Director in the recruitment, on and off boarding staff, as well as building out and maintaining HR-related training and professional development workshops.
- Manage office equipment maintenance services and repairs.
- Order and maintain an inventory of office supplies.
- Be responsible for other relevant operational projects as assigned.
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have a strong community and partnership-building track record, be collaborative, goal-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and focused on deliverables—while demonstrating flexibility and ability to adapt to new priorities in a fast-paced environment. A minimum of five years of professional work experience developing and executing on programmatic, marketing, fundraising initiatives and/or events. A minimum of two years of management experience.
Preferred candidates will have:
- A deep commitment to the mission of Girls Write Now.
- Experience in facilities-related oversight of community programs, events and work spaces.
- Strong administrative, communication, customer service orientation and project management skills.
- Strong technological and platform skills (e.g., Salesforce, WordPress, social media platforms, etc).
- A Bachelor’s degree.
Candidates must have the ability to work some evenings and Saturdays as the program calendar demands.
Salary & Benefits
We offer a competitive annual salary ($60,000-$79,000) commensurate with experience and benefits package (medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) plan, paid leave and holidays, etc.)
