
Welcome to Book Club: Page to Stage!
In the one-cycle Book Club: Page to Stage Journey, Mentees and Mentors will explore classic literature through both reading and performance. Participants will read three books and then experience them brought to life through dynamic solo stage adaptations in partnership with Literature to Life (LTL).
You are currently viewing the course for this Journey. In this course, you will learn about active reading strategies, how to implement reading into your everyday life, and how to analyze literary adaptations.
Learning Objectives
Book Club: Page to Stage Course Learning Objectives:
At the end of this course, participants will have:
- Conducted In-Depth Analysis of Chosen Novels — Explore how authors build story through character development, narrative structure, and language choices.
- Connected Literature to Current Events/History — Draw meaningful parallels between the themes in the novels and real-world events or historical contexts.
- Engaged with Adaptation Theory — Learn how to assess literary adaptations using critical theory and analysis.
- Reflected on the Impact of Performance as Interpretation — Examine how live adaptation enhances or shifts understanding of a literary text.
Requirements
- Complete at least 2 pair sessions per month and log these in your Portal
- Attend the monthly Journey Meetings (see Engagement Dates )
- Complete all lessons and assignments in this course
- Submit at least one piece through the Submissions section in the Portal that assesses the adaptation of one of the required books
Engagement Dates
Participants will attend one Journey Live Meeting each month as part of the course for the cycle. Additionally, you can schedule 1:1 office hours with the Journey Instructor for individual assistance as needed.

Asynchronous Coursework
Complete each lesson in the the following course. As you progress through each lesson, make sure to press “complete” before moving on to the next.
Book Club: Page to Stage (Summer 2025)
This course invites mentees and mentors to explore classic literature through both reading and performance. Participants will develop active reading skills and learn how to write about adaptations.
Submissions
You are required to submit one piece (400-800 words) that assesses one of the Literature to Life adaptations presented during the cycle through your portal by the end of the cycle in order to successfully complete the Book Club: Page to Stage Journey. To meet the submission requirement for the Book Club: Page to Stage Course, go to your Portal and select “Submissions”.
