n this journey, you’ll collaborate as a production team to produce a podcast series about the Cop City project that includes research, pitching episodes, outlining episodes, hosting the podcast, and editing. We’ll try to understand why these cop cities are popping up, why people are resisting their construction, and different ideas around what makes a community “safe.” Great for mentees who are interested in social justice, journalism, and podcasting.

Perspectives on Public Policy (Fall 2024-Spring 2025)
A comprehensive overview public policy and its role in addressing societal challenges with a focus on societal inequalities, public policy frameworks, design, analysis and justification.
On-Demand Mentoring Sessions (Fall 2024)
On-Demand Mentoring sessions are available for young writers who would like support or advice on a specific topic. These sessions are offered for Career Development, College Preparation, Creative Writing, or Wellness.
College Research (Fall 2024)
College Research is available for two cohorts of mentees and mentors: those with a general interest in pursuing graduate education, including how to prepare for graduate studies, and undergraduate students who are already committed to graduate school and wish to show that commitment through an early research-intensive project.
Read: Historical Fiction (Fall 2024)
Each cycle, we’ll close read a new book and discuss it at monthly fixed meetings. We’ll focus, in particular, on reading as writers and taking note of the ways each author crafts their story. This cycle, we’ll be reading Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi.
Collegiate Leadership (Fall 2024)
In this program, participants will develop essential skills for effective time management and independent living by creating personalized time management tools and reflecting on their values and priorities. They will explore key topics such as making impactful changes, leading from any position, and managing conflicts effectively.
Multimedia Tour (Fall 2024)
Embark on a dynamic multimedia journey where visual storytelling and creative exploration converge to explore diverse perspectives and foster personal growth. This journey experience aims to inspire creativity, deepen understanding, and empower individuals to harness the power of multimedia for impactful storytelling and personal discovery.
Playwriting (Fall 2024)
Playwriting is designed to help develop the skills and understanding needed to work as a writer in today’s theatre industry. Playwriting provides insight into the work of a scriptwriter – a deep understanding of live storytelling and professional scripts, short-form and full-length scripts, professional working practices, and employment strategies.
Fiction (Fall 2024)
The Fiction Journey is an immersive package designed for writers eager to explore the art and techniques of short story creation. Whether a seasoned writer or new to fiction, this program offers a structured environment to develop and refine one’s storytelling skills.
Nonfiction (Fall 2024)
The Nonfiction Journey is designed for individuals ready to embark on the journey of documenting their personal narratives. This program offers a structured framework and supportive environment for participants to draft the initial 15-25 pages of their memoirs.
Teach GWN (Fall 2024)
In this journey, members of the GWN community will develop curriculum and facilitate a community studio for one or more cycles within GWN’s Collaboratory structure. Each cycle involves facilitating three community studios, one per month. Participants will gain valuable skills in leadership, teaching, and community building.
The Lead Incubator (Fall 2024-Spring 2025)
The Lead Incubator is an extension of the Lead Community Change journey. Mentees participating in the Lead Incubator focus on advancing their community-based social activism projects with the support of their mentors and Girls Write Now’s resources. They will take on leadership roles, facilitate a community studio, and develop an episode of the Lead Podcast, interviewing an expert relevant to their project’s cause.
