DESCRIPTION:Last month\, a former Cornell student filed suit under the name Jane Doe\, saying she was drugged and raped by seven men at a campus fraternity house in 2024. Since then\, she has received threats. So have women mistaken for her. And students on campuses across the country are asking whether they are safe. \nWherever this news finds you—grieving\, furious\, organizing\, or still searching for words—come process it with us. Sophia Steele\, a Girls Write Now mentor alum and Cornell PhD student\, will lead an hour of guided journaling and conversation for our whole community: mentees\, mentors\, alumni\, and anyone who cares about the safety and voices of women and gender-expansive people. Write\, listen\, and share as much or as little as you want. We’ll close with resources\, and we’ll bring in experts for follow-up conversations as needed. \nCommunity Conversations are where Girls Write Now comes together when the news hits close to home. We write\, talk\, and listen our way through the hard moments\, and we build a culture of compassion\, inclusion\, and understanding along the way. \nThis session discusses sexual assault.
