“Not Up 2 Code” is a podcast about the struggle of public school students, created by students. Most of the podcasts that are similar to this one are from the perspective of teachers, but I’ve realized that they exclude student voices. I wanted to start the podcast after I was outed at school. It was violent and unwanted, and to make matters worse, the person who orchestrated the event never faced repercussions The podcast is run by two women of color, both part of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s meant to expose the disparity in New York City’s education system.

Caster Semenya is a South African runner who has been banned by the IAAF from competing with women because she was found to be hyperandrogenic, meaning she has a higher level of testosterone. This whole investigation was based on the opinion of fellow athletes that she looks like a man. As a result, she must either take testosterone decreasing drugs to compete with women or run with men. As of now, Semenya is still fighting the case, not just for herself but for the human rights of all women.
Set in London in 1892, two women meet at an art exhibit for famous (and recently deceased) painter Wil Finch. Through their brief encounter, we find out what makes them admire his work so much.
In their second episode of Everyone’s a Little Bit Gay, Angelica and Amina discuss the ups and downs of growing in their sexuality as young women. They analyze the ways that their families and society have conditioned them into expressing their sexual desires and how to break free of the bonds of traditional femininity.
This flash fiction piece brings us sixteen-year-old Carrie, who is bright, brilliant, and ambitious. Carrie is also sweet, kind, and loving. Why then, is Carrie sitting in jail accused of mass homicide?
The idea to create this piece came from a late night with my friends. Past 2 a.m., we had a lot on our minds and needed to get some things off our chests. I used the app Anchor to produce this trailer, along with GarageBand to pre-record audio. On Anchor, I added sound for the intro/outro and to set the mood of the podcast. The original segment was actually longer than the trailer, so I had to edit it to capture the energy of the podcast.
