Saturday 360 Workshop Series
The Saturday 360 Series covers Girls Write Now’s core curriculum, providing participants with multi-genre, multimedia and multi-platform writing skills—everything from storytelling to coding. Saturday 360 Teaching Artists have professional writing expertise in a particular genre or medium—and notable experience teaching youth. They help pass on their specific craft while demonstrating how writing can be applied in real life. Teaching Artists develop and write lesson plans within Girls Write Now’s curricular guidelines, teach sections of mentor/mentee pairs, evaluate workshops, and present a final, post-workshop revised lesson plans.
Saturday 360 workshops are typically 1.5-2.25 hours on Saturday of any given month. Occasionally we produce workshops with a different format and timeframe.
Writing Works Workshops
Writing Works Workshops focus on professional development, offering mentees and mentors support with college and career skill-building, industry exposure and networking, scholarships, internships, and professional writing across a broad range of industries from publishing, advertising, and entertainment to beauty, finance, and more.
Writing Works Workshops typically take place on Saturdays, ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, anywhere from 2-4:30 PM ET.
Friday Night Salon Series
Friday Night Salons are magical nights of creating and conversing with the Girls Write Now community and the public. This opportunity offers artists the unique opportunity to promote recent or upcoming works and build a broader network of fans and followers. At Friday Night Salons, a guest artist shares their personal and professional journey, guides the audience through a series of inspirational writing prompts, reads from their latest work or an upcoming work, and engages in a Q&A with the participants.
Salons are a great event for any writing genre and take place on Fridays from 6-7:15 PM ET.
Friday Night Activist Salon/Professional Development Series
At Girls Write Now, we believe in writing our way to wellness, but sometimes we also want to take action. Designed to be flexible in format, this Friday night series is a space for discussion, healing, learning, sharing, exploring, questioning, strategizing action steps, laughter and love. Guest artists are activists, writers, creators, wellness professionals, and DEI experts, and are interested in engaging with an intimate audience with a specific topic in mind. Topics include, but are not limited to activism, communicating and writing across differences, successful mentoring, conflict resolution, and wellness—the options are endless!
Salons typically take place on Fridays, ranging from 75-90 minutes, anywhere from 6-7:15 PM ET.
