“Valentina’s glow was obvious from our first FaceTime conversation. I knew right away that we had found a strong connection. Her glow emanates from her dedication to and love for all that she is immersed in: writing, reading and playing the violin. She shares her phenomenal non-fiction pieces that are an honor to read. She intends to major in writing in college; then, go on to graduate school. She has inspired me to write some non-fiction. We talk weekly; she is a huge bright spot, and I am profoundly grateful that I am part of her ongoing blossoming.”

“ truly believe Mary and I could speak for days on end if given the opportunity. From Substack recommendations to sharing our mutual love for cats, our meetings are a form of escapism I look forward to every week. I am beyond grateful for her support and mentorship. Through her guidance, I have been able to grow as a writer and learn the importance of balance. Mary is an inspiration and a brilliant individual. It has been a gift to get to know her this year!”

“Rhea is ambitious, analytical, and a creative thinker. Mentoring her through the Historical Fiction Journey has been rewarding as she’s brought new perspectives to the conversation, particularly around women, America’s cultural memory of enslavement, and resistance.”

“Working together has taught me that writing is not just about the page, but about connection. We bring our different perspectives, styles, and ideas, and in that exchange, new possibilities always emerge. Our writing sessions often spark conversations that carry beyond the words, reminding me that storytelling is both a craft and a relationship. This partnership has made me braver with my voice and more intentional with my stories.”

“Oli is the best Mentee I could imagine having been paired with. We’ve spend a fairly significant amount of time working on prompts together, sharing our work, and holding each other accountable in our creations. Oli has opened my eyes to different cultures, such as what it’s like to live in a large city. And overall, we foster each others creativity in a way I’ve never seen before.”
