Girls Write Now Awards

Celebrating with Collaborators United in Hope Across Genres and Media

Hope was on full display at the 2025 Girls Write Now Awards, held in Diane von Furstenberg’s Atelier in New York City. Our honorees collectively embody the breadth and richness of the Girls Write Now model and curriculum. They also transcend writing—as literal truth-tellers, alchemists, healers, and much more. Our heartfelt thanks to the Girls Write Now community—stakeholders with vastly different life experiences who gathered together to listen intently, enlarge our understanding, and ultimately to bridge worlds. We all felt the lifeblood of democracy in full force.

Honoring Rachel Bloom, Kardea Brown, Winnie Holzman, Suleika Jaouad, Maria Pacheco, and Dana A. Williams. With Introductions by Bowen Yang, Melba Wilson, Robin Schiff, Marie Howe, Lisa McDonald, and Abby West.

The Awards kicks off our 2025 year-end appeal, raising funds to resource the interconnected world of Girls Write Now—holistic writing, mentoring, and multi-generational community-building across all genres, media, disciplines, and states of the nation. The power of joining forces to champion our work is that it breaks down the boundaries of gender, age, race, and poverty. Hope cascades, our shared vision expands, and we create the change we all need now more than ever.

Winnie‘s advice to writers:

Keep writing. Even when it’s tough. Especially when it’s tough! When you feel like it’s not working, like you have no idea what you’re doing, all you have to do is: not give up. Okay?

I won’t if you won’t. Deal?

Meet Winnie, the co-writer of the upcoming movie, Wicked: For Good.

Suleika Jaouad

Author of The Book of Alchemy & Founder of The Alchemy Fund

Suleika inspires our writers to keep journaling and reminds us:

I have long believed that journaling allows you to alchemize isolation into creative solitude. As it happens, reading also enacts that shift. Rather than feeling trapped and alone with your thoughts, you’re in conversation. You’ve got company.

Supporting young writers is near and dear to her heart, and Suleika has founded The Alchemy Fund, which directly impacts Girls Write Now.

Join us in celebrating Suleika.
