Spring 2025: Fundamentals of Publishing & Marketing

Welcome to Fundamentals of Publishing & Marketing! This course is designed to help you learn all there is no know about the book publishing process. You’ll learn about traditional and self publishing, literary agents, the Big Five Publishing companies, and the role of marketing yourself and your work.

Mentoring

In addition to this course, you will meet with your pair for at least one hour-long session per month. Feel free to bring course material into your pair sessions if you’d like!

Events

Journey Meeting events will be held throughout the cycle to provide us with opportunities to meet with one another and discuss the material in this course. We’ll bring in special guests from the publishing world to talk with you about their roles and share insights into the wonderful world of book publishing. These are great events to chat with other mentees and mentors, share your ideas and questions about publishing, and network with industry professionals.

• May 3, 12-1 pm ET Journey Meeting: Marketing
