Position Overview
The building blocks of the Girls Write Now Collaboratory, which houses our programs and services, are Writing, Mentoring, and Community. The Community Manager (CM) will be central to all three in order to help implement the organization’s strategic plan to scale while maintaining personalized supports for our members.
Specifically, the CM will be focused on providing guidance and quality control for our customized Learning Management System; building our Mentor-On-Demand system; and driving activities in a variety of formats within the college and career space. In these areas and more, they will be a leading voice in shaping experiences throughout the mentor-mentee life cycle—from program and curriculum development; to partnership building and recruitment; to pair engagement and support; to metrics and evaluation.
This role is instrumental to both the growth and the excellence of Girls Write Now’s programs. The ideal candidate will be interested in nonprofit management and social entrepreneurship, a strategic project planner and a nurturer of individual experiences; technically minded with a high emotional IQ; a strong leader and a communicative collaborator. They will work closely with our Senior Community Managers and Directors, as well as across departments from marketing and development to systems and operations, ensuring that the Girls Write Now Community has all of the resources and supports they need.
Learning Management System
Girls Write Now has a well-rounded multi-genre, multimedia “360” curriculum built up over nearly three decades. In the past three years, we have organized and expanded upon this content in a custom-designed learning management system (LMS) on the WordPress platform, engaging our community members in utilizing it as an anchor to their experience. The Community Manager is responsible for developing guidelines and providing quality control for the LMS, in terms of the creation of content as well as its dissemination.

Mentor on Demand Model
The Community Manager role will maintain, innovate, and grow our Mentor on Demand (MOD) model, which allows for mentors and mentees to meet for short, flexible sessions based on their needs, interests, goals, and schedules to explore specific topics within the college, career, creative, and wellness spaces. Systems-wise, the MOD resides at the intersection of WordPress, Salesforce, and Cal.com, and the CM will help manage processes from the perspective of multiple audiences: the mentor; the mentee; the corporate partner; and the staff manager. Each user needs a clear pathway to successfully and efficiently meet their goals.

College & Career
Girls Write Now’s 360-degree approach to programming spans all genres, media, and fields, with a strong emphasis on college, career, and leadership development. We offer a writing-focused pathway into a wide range of industries, from publishing and media to health, beauty, finance, technology, and beyond. Our mentees, aged 13-24, benefit from our dedicated resources to ensure a smooth transition through college, graduate school, internships, and into careers at all levels.
