In the dark

Even in the darkest night, there will always be a glimmer of hope.

Bringing life around it hope
And the world around it light

The dark sky blackened the night

And hope continued to disappear into the dark

Yet in the field far far away,

A spot of pink could be seen

Fighting the darkness away

As we walk closer and closer,

It glows brighter and brighter

The flower stems from the ground

And its wilted, pink petals hang from its branch,

Sweeping the floor, tired from its work

The crumpled dark leaves blend into the night,

Yet the flower continues to shine on

Bringing life around it hope

And the world around it light

Process

This piece was created through a community workshop where we were using Canva to create provocative poetry pieces based off images and/or objects. Using my dried, pressed flower on my desk, I wrote this poem based off its characteristics and emotions that I felt when I looked at it.
