The Cat Supermarket

By Alice Kresberg & Amelia Possanza

A cute and funny short film where there is a supermarket for cats where they are shaped like different types of foods! Don’t worry though, they aren’t actually for eating—just for decoration!

Process

During Covid-19, my mentor and I got to spend a lot of time with our cats while in quarantine. We felt both gratitude for their company as well as annoyance when they were being, well… cats. From this experience, we wanted to make a heartwarming piece including them since they were such big parts of our lives this past year. When we were brainstorming ideas, we sketched out a plan for a possible screenplay (pictured here) where we would put together clips of our cats with dialogue as if they were talking to each other. After trying to collect many clips of our cats for the scenes, we realized this wouldn’t work.

Instead, we decided to go with the idea to make a compilation of cats looking like different food items. We were inspired through all the photos we take of our cats as well as all the cats in Instagram posts where they are portrayed as food. In the end, we were left with a short but adorable video that can surely make someone’s day better! —Alice
