This Is Me

By Lorena De La Rosa

This is a small video filled with pictures, memories, and things I enjoy. As you navigate through this short video of some of the things that make me who I am, you might find that we are alike in more ways than one.

Process

The idea to create this video came from just wanting to show others who I am and the things I like, as well as what I want to achieve in the future. While doing this project, I was surprised to discover that I liked many things that I didn’t know I liked. I felt pleased when looking at the final product because the video represented me in a way.

Meet the Pair

MENTEE LORENA DE LA ROSA & MENTOR JUDITH ROLAND

Lorena’s Anecdote: My mentor Judy and I share a strong bond of friendship and a love of the Met Museum period rooms, avocados, and scary movies. During the time we spend together at weekly pair sessions we laugh a lot and share everything about our lives while we do free-writes, thanks to the random word generator. My life and my writing are infinitely better since joining Girls Write Now, and I’ll miss the program when I start college in the fall. But I’ve already told my mentor that she will be my roommate freshman year!

Judith’s Anecdote: I greatly admire my mentee Lorena for so many things. She’s one of the kindest, most considerate people I’ve ever known, and she’s a great, loyal friend. Beyond that, she pushes herself to continually improve her writing and challenge herself. She never lets fear get in the way; to the contrary, she channels it to push beyond her comfort zone and achieve what she never thought possible. She dreams big and is capable of accomplishing anything she sets her mind to. I have no doubt that she will take her place in history!
