Inspired by her own journey from El Salvador to the United States as a child, Erika Alfaro wrote “Underground”, a fictional story in which an unnamed narrator and her family is chosen by lottery to relocate underground for 15 years once the earth becomes overpopulated. This story recounts the narrator’s first trip to the surface.
Erika was a 2012 GWN mentee.
