Girls Write Now PSA with NBCU’s Creative Impact Lab

New York, NY – June 18, 2024

Girls Write Now’s partnership with NBCUniversal began over a decade ago—with a joint commitment to empowering the next generation of storytellers.

Today, we are proud to share a public service announcement that we created in collaboration with Reel Works and NBCUniversal creative executives featuring a veteran Girls Write Now pair, mentor Kiki Tom and mentee Isabella Japal.
As we prepare to launch recruitment and enrollment for the Fall cycle and the beginning of our 26th year, enjoy 30 seconds capturing the essence of our work. Brilliantly crafted by Reel Work’s young filmmakers, this short film demonstrates the impact that mentoring can have on young creatives.

Here’s to the next 25 years.

This PSA is part of a longer video capturing the magic of the Girls Write Now community—watch the full reel here.

Thanks for being in my life. Because you’ve been more than just a mentor—you’ve been a source of inspiration in my journey to becoming a writer.

Isabella Japal, mentee
