Today, the young women of Girls Write Now get the platform and visual representation they deserve: Big, bold images that capture the vitality and diversity of the girls are featured on multiple billboards throughout three Times Square locations. “It takes real holistic relationships to change a girl’s trajectory, and now you can see them come to life, front and center on the world’s biggest stage. We couldn’t be more proud,” says Girls Write Now Founder & Executive Director, Maya Nussbaum.

Girls Write Now’s mission is to amplify today’s vulnerable voices, especially in the current social and political climate. Girls Write Now is meeting an unprecedented demand for our writing and mentoring programs, and we are serving nearly 40% more girls. Our girls are over 90% high need, 95% girls of color, and over 75% immigrant or first generation. The outcome of our work? 100% of Girls Write Now seniors are accepted into college. A quick glance at the colleges our mentees attend: Hunter, Harvard, and Howard. Need more evidence? The Times Square billboards showcase Write Now champions Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, Creators & Stars of Comedy Central’s Broad City; Samhita Mukhopadhyay, Executive Editor of Teen Vogue; and Phoebe Robinson, NYT bestselling author of Everything’s Trash But It’s Okay and HBO’s 2 Dope Queens flanking mentors and mentees Tuhfa Begum, Maxx Carr, Stacy China, Ashley Christie, Jolie-Amour DuBose-Morris, Analise Guerrero, Rahat Huda, Alexandrea Klimoski, Catherine LeClair, Chana Porter, Tiffani Ren (pictured right), and Josleen Wilson.
