QWERTY Digital Exhibition is just around the corner and we wanted to give you a sneak peek of what will be exhibited!
Our Digital Media Mentoring Program mentees are beyond excited to debut the projects they have been working on all year at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab this May 2. Their projects range from personal statement videos to feminist-oriented blogs, and showcase their spectacular writing and the new digital media skills they have learned in the program. With the help of their mentors, our teens have created masterpieces!
#speakNow by Sharon Young
Sharon Young’s #speakNow project is an audio collage of stories from young women. In this inspirational piece, she speaks with friends, fellow mentees, and mentee alumnae. Click the picture below to view this project, listen to some of the stories, and experience Sharon’s newfound Audacity skills.
Pseudolucia Kinbote by Eda Tse
Eda Tse’s piece, Pseudolucia Kinbote, was inspired by the metamorphic stage of a butterfly that comes between cocoon and butterfly, where the creature turns into mush. She created her poem by cutting up and repurposing her college admission essay. She recorded audio of her friends reading the poem and used Adobe After Effects to create text animations.
Change by Timi Nick
Change, a short film by mentee Timi Nick, showcases her talent for capturing beautiful moments on film and piecing them together to share an important message. She (along with two friends) speaks about her desire to change the world by using her voice. Timi’s captivating film will inspire others to write the change.
Come see these amazing projects and more at QWERTY Digital Exhibition on Saturday, May 2 at the Sony Wonder Technology Lab!
