Join us at the legendary Bowery Hotel on the evening of Tuesday, June 3rd from 6-9pm for the 2014 Girls Write Now Awards to celebrate the achievements of our girls and honor women who write the world.
Following the success of our first Girls Write Now Awards, we are thrilled to continue the tradition in 2014!
In today’s changing landscape, Girls Write Now is paving the way for the next generation of women writers, one girl at a time. Every year, the girls we mentor join a supportive community where they discover their voices and the fearlessness to share their stories. Just like the women we are honoring at the 2014 Girls Write Now Awards, our girls are breaking through boundaries, both in life and in writing, to realize the promise of change.
Our honorees include Dawn Davis (Vice-President & Publisher, The Atria Publishing Group), Roberta Kaplan (Partner, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP), and Gloria Steinem (Feminist, Activist, & Author). New York Times national correspondent, Tanzina Vega, will emcee the event
The evening’s program will feature hors d’oeurves and drinks, a silent auction, a special video premiere featuring an original song by Suzzy Roche and Girls Write Now mentees, mentee performances, and a toast to our mentors.
A huge thank you to our sponsors Open Road Media, SheKnows, and Hachette Book Group for helping make this year’s awards possible!
All funds raised at the event will help support our expanding roster of programs for underserved high school girls throughout the city — so get your tickets before they’re all sold out!
Girls Write Now has changed my life. It has empowered me to take my writing to new levels that not only reflect my identity but connect to others as well… My mentor has helped me to take risks; to feel confident in myself and in my writing.
