Mari Layson Roy (They/She/He/Siya) is a Filipino and queer performing artist, model, and storyteller with backgrounds in musical theatre and dance. They are an alum of the University of Washington Tacoma holding a bachelor’s degree in Ethnic, Gender, and Labor Studies. This summer, Roy has been learning and growing through their internship for a children’s theatre in Seattle. They strive to continuously pursue passion projects that intersect both their love for the arts, community engagement, and social justice. In their free time, they volunteer at a QTBIPOC arts organization to co-emcee open mic nights and fill their love for live music through attending lots of concerts. Mari’s hopes as a new writer is to explore their vulnerability through poetry and be able to share their voice and experiences with the community hoping others will feel seen and heard.
