About the Event

Geography is destiny. Where you are is who you are. It’s easy to think of setting as a backdrop to a story, but it can be so much more. In this studio, we’ll explore how to use setting to establish a sense of place, enriching our story’s mood and enhancing our characters.

In this session, we’ll discuss how to use a character’s associations with their environment to build a compelling sense of place in your story. We’ll also explore the reverse: the ways a sense of place can help create dynamic characters.
