Writing & Wellness Events for Women, Trans* & Gender-expansive Creatives
As one mentor put it, Girls Write Now events are “the cure for writer’s block.” We offer an array of writing-centered events to our community and to the public—and even virtually, our spaces are welcoming, inspiring, and empowering.
We come together to create multi-genre, multimedia work, share perspectives, hone professional skills, and support each other on the path to wellness both for ourselves and our communities. Join our mailing list to get weekly event updates!

Spring 2025 Journey Orientation Dates
Attention Mentees and Mentors!
We will inform you of the Journey you have been enrolled in during early February. At that time, you’ll also be introduced to your Journey Staff Lead and receive your orientation registration link. If you’re unable to attend the orientation session, please notify your Journey Staff Lead as soon as possible.
We look forward to embarking on these journeys together!
STARS Youth Summit
This year’s Summit, themed "Self-Care to Community-Care: WE Got US!", will emphasize the transformative power of community-care, building on the success of our #SelfCareSaturday initiative, and inspire attendees to uplift one another and drive change in their communities.
Girls Write Now + Macmillan Employee Engagement Workshop
At Girls Write Now, we make the case of how crucial writing and communication are no matter your career path. Join us at this one-hour interactive Employee Engagement Workshop exclusively for Macmillan employees to discover how Girls Write Now can enrich your life.
Managing Through Crises (or Hard Times Require Furious Dancing)
Join us for a conversation where we’ll talk about what you do to find and maintain balance, where you find credible news v. chasing baseless rumors, and what you’re doing, or desire to do to make hard times a little easier for us all.
Career Chat: Physicians Write Now
This Chat will explore what it’s like to be both a physician and an author. We’ll hear from doctors and medical professionals, who write in a variety of genres, about how they balance their demanding career in healthcare with a writing practice. Here is your chance to ask all of your burning questions about how to combine these two pursuits. We’ll also hear about the vital role storytelling plays in medicine.
We Have The Tools: A Forum on Youth Impact
The Athena Film Festival invites you to a lively forum where high school and college students will share the strategies and tactics that they are using to tell important stories, build community, and pursue justice.
