EMILEE Whitesell

Emilee started writing stories in the 5th grade (thanks to a very special mentor), before expanding to creative non-fiction and journalism in high school, where she was Editor of the school newspaper. She became the youngest journalist for her town’s newspaper at 16. She attended Wichita State University on a full-ride scholarship, graduating with a B.A., majoring in English Literature and minoring in Creative Writing. She also spent a year at SUNY Binghamton where she worked as a reporter and writer for the university paper. At Binghamton, she also had poetry published in an indie press. Since then, Emilee has focused on her corporate career, where she is an expert in technical writing. She has an extensive background serving non-profits including GirlForward, the Amala Foundation, and Austin Youth Kitchen, a youth-centered nonprofit she co-founded. Today she’s filled with gratitude at the opportunity to work at the intersection of her two greatest passions: mentoring and Creative Writing.
