Elisa Kim founded Eggi after fifteen years of teaching design—long enough to know that the people most shaped by design decisions are rarely the ones being taught to make them. Eggi is a print magazine for girls ages 8–14 about the design of girlhood: the objects, spaces, and systems that shape their lives, and the language to reimagine them. Elisa directed the architecture and urbanism program at Smith College and led design studios at Washington University in St. Louis. Her research examined how drawing—who draws and whose lines get drawn—shapes the way people move through the world. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Architecture Biennale. She lives in Brooklyn with her two daughters, who are the reason she started Eggi.
