Mia Dowdell is a high school junior. When not writing or editing for her school’s award-winning newspaper, High Tide, Mia can be found watching Succession, drinking lemon tea or writing poetry. She hopes to one day publish the novel she is working on and plans to try screenwriting after college.

Artist‘s Statement
While I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty in different kinds of writing, I’ve always felt that poetry truly leaves my bones out in the sun. I have the tendency to direct movies from mundanities in my head, and I use the pen as a fishing line for lost questions we forget to answer. I’ve grown a lot in clearing the fog in my voice this year, but I’m excited to learn and grow even more in the next.
