EXPERIENCE THE PARTNERSHIP
ACTIVATION
Twitter Spaces Chat with Girls Write Now Champion Roxane Gay Thursday, April 21
We’ll continue to spread awareness for Earth Day by hosting a follow-up session on Twitter Spaces—including live discussion and open Q&A—with esteemed author, activist and friend of Girls Write Now, Roxane Gay. Gay will explore the intersection between feminism and environmentalism, and how our words have the power to enact real change on both fronts.
Writing Works WORKSHOP
Earth Day with Twitter: Poetry for Our Planet Wednesday, April 20
In celebration of Earth Day and National Poetry month, Twitter employees— “Mentors for the Day”— and Girls Write Now Mentees join forces to put some beauty and love for Mother Nature out in the world by creating group poems—centos—one line at a time. Protecting the earth requires restraint, using less and reducing our carbon footprint. Twitter is designed to communicate your message with brevity and precision.
In this workshop, led by Brittany Barker, Educator, Poet and Girls Write Now Mentee Alumna, we will practice being good stewards of the earth by being economical in our message about caring for the world around us.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Community Building
10-25 Twitter employees, “Mentors for the Day,” will bond with colleagues and come together for a collective moment to exhale, reflect and refresh.
Write Your Way to Wellness
These workshops are designed to meet employees wherever they are in terms of both writing and wellness. In other words, they do not need to be writers, or have experience with a mental health professional.
Industry Exposure
Employees from a cross section of the company are invited to share “elevator pitches” and answer mentees’ questions about their jobs—and potentially inspire a new career path.
Intergenerational Exchange
Understand how today’s young leaders and storytellers from underserved communities are feeling and thinking about climate change, and how Girls Write Now works with youth to elevate their voices.
Girls Write Now
For 25 years, Girls Write Now has been breaking down barriers of gender, race, age and poverty to mentor the next generation of writers and leaders who are impacting businesses, shaping culture and creating change. Thank you for joining our movement.
In celebration of Earth Day, Girls Write Now is proud to announce we’re partnering with Twitter! In a series of writing workshops, we will practice being good stewards of the earth, by being economical in our messages about caring for the world around us. Learn more about our corporate partnerships!
