Summer 2025: Social Media Fundamentals
Hello! Welcome to Social Media Fundamentals. This course is designed to give you the tools you need to create engaging, relevant, and impactful social media for your personal projects, brands, and any kind of professional account. Even for the chronically online, this course will provide new and valuable insights for how to get the most out of social media for yourself or your brand. Specific topics range from generating ideas for posts to caring for yourself in the digital space.
Learning Objectives
- Have the technical knowledge and creative direction needed to share effectively on social media.
- Identify different kinds of social media accounts.
- Learn how to create a social media plan and adjust based on metrics or feedback.
- Discover methods for creating engaging social media content.
- Understand how to care for your well-being while working on social media.
Requirements
As you progress through each lesson, make sure to press complete before moving on to the next.

Mentorship
You are in one of the following pair types. You pair type is listed on your GWN Portal profile.
- Mentor/Mentee: Meet 2-3 times per month and, as a pair, attend one of the engagement events listed below at least once per month.
- Peer-to-Peer: Meet 2 times per month and, as a pair, attend one of the engagement events listed below at least once per month.
- Affinity Groups: Meet 1 time per month and attend at least two per month of the engagement events listed below.
