Summer 2025: Video for Performance & Digital Storytelling

At the end of this course, participants will have:

• Gain a basic understanding of how video can be used for storytelling for self-expression.
• Learn basic video/audio editing on a non-linear timeline.
• How identity work can be translated into video work as a tool to tell creative stories.
• Understand the power of visual storytelling to address political and historical subjects.
• Find ways to express oneself using digital media and storytelling through a series of abstract but related sequences of images and video segments, along with text and audio overdubbing.

As you progress through each lesson, make sure to press complete before moving on to the next. Complete at least 2 of the following mini-courses:

• Photopoetry: A Synthesis of Photography and Poetry
• Video Fundamentals
• Graphic Design Fundamentals
• Social Media Fundamentals
• Podcasting Fundamentals
• Video for Performance & Digital Storytelling

Mentorship

You are in one of the following pair types. You pair type is listed on your GWN Portal profile.

• Mentor/Mentee: Meet 2-3 times per month.
• Peer Mentee/Peer Mentee: Meet 2-3 times per month.

Engagement Types

Attend at least one community event a month. You can choose from events such as Community Studios, Career Chats, Friday Night Salons, and Community Conversations. Check the Events Page in your portal for information on upcoming live events.

Submissions

Submit at least one video.

You are required to submit one piece of any genre in order to successfully complete the Multimedia Tour Course. To meet the submission requirement for the Multimedia Tour Course, go to your Portal and select “Submissions”.
