Hello! Welcome to Book Club: Summer Reads Journey. This course is designed to help develop critical thinking skills, engage with literary criticism, and form a reading practice. Specific topics range from active reading to review writing to connecting stories to current events.

- Articulate what works and doesn’t work about a text
- Connect classic and contemporary literature to current events
- Write a book review
Requirements
Coursework
Complete each lesson in the the following course. (Include or remove lines as applicable. As you progress through each lesson, make sure to press complete before moving on to the next.
Mentorship
You are in one of the following pair types. You pair type is listed on your GWN Portal profile.
- Type 1: Mentor/Mentee: Meet 2 times per month and, as a pair, attend one of the engagement events listed below at least once per month. See below for the dates.
- Type 2 : Peer-to-Peer: Meet 2 times per month and, as a pair, attend one of the engagement events listed below at least once per month. See below for the dates.

Submissions
Submit your review through the portal by September 29. If you’d like feedback from the Journey Lead (Annaya Baynes), put a link to a Google Doc in the comments of the “Where to Read about Books” lesson. Alternatively, submit to this contest by August 1.
