For nearly ten years, Girls Write Now (GWN) and Macmillan have enjoyed a mutually beneficial partnership through employee engagement workshops, Friday Night Salons with Macmillan authors, Career Chats, and mentorship with our youth. Mentoring at GWN is an alternative to formulaic, overwhelming, or impersonal professional development, helping professionals to feel more alive, connected, included, and creatively energized in their work.
Curious about mentoring? Join us for a half-hour virtual Open House on Tuesday, April 7, 4:15-4:45 PM ET in which you’ll hear about the benefits of becoming a mentor—participating in a multigenerational community and building skills while making a tangible difference in the lives of emerging young writers and leaders. Through practical, creative curriculum, participants sharpen writing, speaking, and narrative skills that directly support leadership, collaboration, and clarity in any role. The experience offers structured creative time—three hours a month—to recharge, reflect, express yourself, and reconnect with what feels energizing and purposeful. You’ll also learn how you can parachute in for one-hour focused sessions in an area of your expertise, according to your schedule, to meet the needs of a variety of mentees.
GWN is a nationally award-winning nonprofit, media brand, and multi-generational community. For nearly three decades, we have broken down the barriers of gender, age, race, and poverty to mentor, teach, and connect writers and leaders across disciplines and around the nation.
