What is a haunted house? Why is a haunted house…well, haunted? In this workshop with Author Cynthia “Cina” Pelayo, we will examine works of literature and film that exemplify this trope, before moving into the creation of a piece of short fiction.

Join author María Alejandra Barrios, as she sheds light on what magical realism is (and isn’t!), and the unexpected ways we can disrupt the ordinary and make room for magic in our work.

Join multimedia artist, performer, and child of the African diaspora, Dacia Green, as they guide us through the basics of directing, shooting, and editing a TikTok video in Audio-Visual Storytelling: TikTok Tales. This workshop is an accessible entry into the world of audio-visual storytelling, where participants can expect to learn about the elements that comprise a compelling audio-visual story. The only thing needed for this workshop is a smart phone, the TikTok app, and a bit of imagination.
