Committee Description

At Girls Write Now, we creatively challenge the status quo in media and our world. From program development to editorial approach to marketing, philanthropy, and beyond, we strive to foster a space that is inclusive of all the brilliant voices that make up our vibrant community. To that end, we have established a suite of committees called “Intersectional Voices” or “IV” Committees, which are all leadership opportunities for mentors, mentees, and members of our core community to take a direct stake in and contribute to Girls Write Now as an organization and community.

Committee Purpose

The IV DEIB Committee is dedicated to creating an inclusive and equitable environment within Girls Write Now, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. This committee promotes the integration of DEIB principles into all aspects of Girls Write Now’s operations and programming, helping to establish, review, and make recommendations on plans and policies that support underrepresented groups within the community.

We are in the process of structuring an IV DEIB committee with membership as diverse as possible—”360 degree” diversity in all senses of the word—including stakeholders across the organization, from mentors and mentees to staff, board, volunteers, and partners.

Committee Meetings:

IV DEIB will meet on a quarterly, and on an as-needed basis, starting November 2024.
