Fall 2025

Teach GWN

In this Journey, members of the GWN community will develop curriculum and facilitate a community studio for one or more cycles within GWN’s Collaboratory structure. Each cycle involves facilitating three community studios, one per month. Participants will gain valuable skills in leadership, teaching, and community building. Mentees and mentors can facilitate a community studio either solo (if they are 18 or older) or together as a pair.

What Past Participants Have to Say

“The community that Girls Write Now has and how much I learn on a daily basis. Girls Write Now has helped me so much throughout the years with me pushing out work even when times are hard for me.”
Ruby Gabrielle Nicholson Mentee
“The most valuable part of Girls Write Now is the community studios, as they’re a perfect opportunity to connect with other GWN members while also working on your personal skillset. Many community studios also focus on other art forms other than writing or connecting them to writing, encouraging people to build other skills outside of just writing.”

“Girls Write Now provided me a welcoming, relieving, judgement-free space to explore my writing voice, decompress through vulnerable conversations, and build my confidence in teaching.”

Ayame Huber Munemura Mentee
“My mentee specifically stated that she wanted to learn more about teaching and how to write lesson plans. We were able to work closely building our lessons together until she eventually was able to complete a lesson plan entirely on her own! She left being a more confident teacher and I watched her take control of our community studios and blossom into a fierce leader.”
Ashley-Anna Aboreden Mentor

All Journeys within this Adventure focus on leadership to help mentees and mentors develop leadership skills and be inspired to create a better future together. Learn more about the other Adventures offered at Girls Write Now below.

In this journey, you’ll collaborate as a production team to produce a podcast series about the Cop City project that includes research, pitching episodes, outlining episodes, hosting the podcast, and editing. We’ll try to understand why these cop cities are popping up, why people are resisting their construction, and different ideas around what makes a community “safe.” Great for mentees who are interested in social justice, journalism, and podcasting.
