5 Years From Now

By Lola Hart

This is what I imagine my life to be like in 5 years. The future makes me nervous because anything can happen but I remain optimistic always.

5 years from now I will have graduated with my bachelors degree. I’ll be in medical school debt free; learning how to professionally help people. I’ll be surrounded by good friends who are all succeeding and doing good things with their lives. Kind, motivational, and extraordinary human beings.

5 years from now my heart will finally be healed. I’ll have dealt with all the sadness and pain people have caused me. I will learn to forgive those who did me wrong even if they were not sorry. I will no longer accept less than what I deserve. No toxicity will be tolerated around me.

5 years from now I will have met the love of my life. A person who respects and loves me unconditionally. They will understand and value me completely. Communication will be our strongest suit. We will learn to apologize when we’re wrong and not make silly mistakes to jeopardize our relationship.

5 years from now I’ll have a nice little apartment in New York. A little job in my career field of psychiatry to pay the bills. I’ll have a pet fish. Maybe even a roommate who I'll grow an amazing bond with.

5 years from now I’ll have started my first book. I’ll write for it consistently. I’ll attend writing workshops to keep me going and inspire me. Being in a book club would also be nice.

5 years from now I don’t know where I’ll be. But I will speak good things into existence. I said and it shall be.
