An array of images featuring baking, creating art, friends spending time together, and nature. On top of those images is the words, "A Year Ago."

This piece follows my personal experience of this passing year until now, doing my best to express what it was like for me.

Process

While this piece was originally to be a written submission, I decided that although I enjoy writing fiction, I still wanted to deliver something realistic to my audience. Furthermore, I realized just how much I have changed over this past year and how many new experiences I’ve acquired. I guess I could say I had started to become curious of who I am and what that means. In order to share my experience I gathered all of the pictures I liked from this past year and uploaded it into a folder. After that I wrote a short monologue that really helped me plan out what exactly I wanted to mention and what I wanted the order to be. It essentially helped me organize the project and put it together. After writing the short monologue I recorded my own narration using what I had written and edited it on an editing app. I then applied the photos and videos to match the voice recording. I also included transitions and music to help level up the piece as much as I could and also reflect my tone and what I was delivering.
