LET’S PLAY AROUND: A game of sleep paralysis

By Maribel Jimenez

Sleep paralysis has been envisioned in art since as early as the 1700s, when it was described as a demonic visitation. But the fear it represents cannot play with women, because we are powerful and control our own dreams.

It’s time to go to sleep.
Our dreams become nightmares, living in a bubble with fear
fear loves to play around and you’re scared to see the reality
dreams are the longest two minutes of your life.

Now your body is half asleep and half awake
there is a hand wrapping around your neck
but you don’t notice;
you are out of breath

People don't know if it is real or just a dream
blood covers your hand,
it’s dripping, the blood
and the taste of blood is chili sauce

There is a gun in a hand with fear
It sparkles through the body;
the body becomes jello when you touch it.
Is it real or is the devil trying to play mind games?

Being afraid of the dark
it starts as a child
and humans think there is a shallow
and we go crazy.

The body is fighting to wake up
but it triggered your mind,
and when you wake up nothing happened.

Nightmares love to play with you.
