At the start of making this piece, I had just finally found myself again.
I was very glad that I’ve healed from my past relationship and learned to love myself again. I made this podcast because I knew that the things I had to say can help people who are in my predicament. This was my first podcast, and I’m incredibly proud of the work I put into it.
I got the idea to write this speech in my English class. The topic of the speech was completely up to us. Turning my speech into a podcast was difficult at first because it was about eight minutes long, and I had to cut it down by six minutes. I used the app Anchor to accomplish this. After listening to the final product, I realized I did a good job.
Lola’s Anecdote: My mentor and I have been in Girls Write Now together for two years. We started together and have grown an amazing bond since. My favorite time of us together is when we presented awards to honorees at the Agents of Change Awards, hosted by DVF in their New York City headquarters. From practicing together and then being there to showcase our amazing relationship for people to see, these are moments I’ll never forget.
Donna’s Anecdote: “We are dreaming great things and doing them!” Just when I think things are not going to work out in time, Lola puts on her Supergirl cape and pulls it off. She continues to amaze me! Sweet. Funny. Smart. Not one to be underestimated. I love her!
