This is a stop motion video I created and even without the content, it shows that anyone can create a piece like this even if they are not particularly tech-savvy. It shows my hard work in 30 seconds, and even though it may not seem like a long period to most, that mere 30 seconds took a lot of time to create.
Process
I thought it would be interesting to see the short story I wrote fleshed out with art. Using my writing as a script, I drew out my story. I quickly found that stop motion videos are more difficult and time consuming than I originally realized. I also am not a good artist, which made me doubt my work a lot. But when it was finished, I felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment because I had tried something new and completed it even though it was not in my skill set.

Hermei’s Anecdote: I did not know what to expect when I first signed up for Girls Write Now. But the experiences I’ve gained so far exceed any expectations I may have had. Even though this is a program about writing, I feel like I’ve learned so much more during my meetings with Eva. We talk a lot about the matters of life and it is truly an interesting experience, especially since it starts every time with “How was your day?” And from there, anything goes.
Eva’s Anecdote: Entering into a pair writing relationship with a mentee was a new experience for me and I didn’t know what to expect or what it was going to be like. Working with Hermei over the last couple of months has been incredible. She is a smart, witty young writer who is discovering who she is through storytelling. This has been a great experience.
