On December 1, 2025, fifteen youth organizations across NYC will unite to participate in #GivingYouthDay, an initiative inspired by the widely recognized #GivingTuesday, and spearheaded by Girls Write Now’s longtime partner the Sadie Nash Leadership Project. #GivingTuesday, a global movement for charitable giving, takes place annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving with the goal of moving away from the consumerism that is rampant that time of year. #GivingYouthDay is on the Monday before #GivingTuesday, with a distinct focus on elevating the voices and agency of young people while leaning into the power of community collaboration.
Girls Write Now is proud to join forces with Sadie Nash in uplifting the next generation of leaders and change-makers and as part of STARS Citywide Girls Initiative, a coalition of 10 leading nonprofits spanning disciplines—sports, literature, art, activism, and beyond. Over the past 12 years, the STARS Coalition has advocated for girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth from systemically underserved communities, supporting their growth emotionally, academically, and physically to be strong, skilled, and successful leaders. STARS has raised over $14 million from the New York City Council for girls’ programming, and served more than 500,000 across all 51 Council Districts of New York City.
