Girls Write Now Presents: MothSHOPS!

As writers, we are an observant bunch. We take in the world around us, jotting down ideas in our notebooks, while crafting opening lines. In short, we’re no strangers to stories. After all, in our CHAPTERS readings we take on the challenge of moving from ruminating on an experience, to translating it to written word and, finally, to giving it life through spoken word.
Now, through our partnership with acclaimed non-profit The Moth, we have the opportunity to craft powerful spoken stories through a series of MothSHOPS! The Moth aligns itself with Girls Write Now’s belief that finding one’s voice has the power to change lives and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see how our mentors and mentees will turn anecdotes into drafts into riveting spoken stories.
For the next six weeks the MothSHOPS will be taking place at our headquarters, as guest Moth Story Coaches will coax stories out of mentees and mentors alike with support and guidance. As the series progresses, mentees and mentors will learn to really hone their story and to tell it with power.
