March 2026 – Griante, Italy
Representing the United States, Girls Write Now joined international literary leaders to explore the theme of “Disorientation and the Compass of Language”—and how we begin to find our way together.
Inspired by connecting with “Creativity Pioneers” from Sri Lanka, Congo, South Africa, Colombia, the Caribbean, Burundi, and beyond, Girls Write Now will continue to learn from and facilitate connections with this network of writers and change-makers.
There is nothing new under the sun, but there are other suns. How do we get there? By losing our way. Disorientation is not dizzying desperation but a moment of possibility and opportunity. It is how we get twisted in a generative way.
Deep thanks to the Moleskine Foundation for your meaningful support on all levels, and to the Hawthornden Foundation for hosting us at the incredible Casa Ecco on Lake Como. You have helped us navigate the dark with a sense of intimacy and purpose.
