Maria Ruiz’s essay “My Life with a Brain Tumor” was published online in Scholastic’s Choices magazine. This essay was selected as the grand prize winner in the My Life With Essay Contest, and it chronicles Maria’s health struggles after the initial discovery of her brain tumor when she was just 15 years old. The contest was held in partnership with Scholastic, a proud supporter of Girls Write Now.
