Mariane Pearl has remained a steadfast voice for journalists, especially the voice of women. An author, journalist and managing editor of Chime for Change, Mariane shared her commitment when she addressed the United Nations on May 27. She lauded the courage of journalists in conflict situations, many of them women.
Mariane and ThasfiaGirls Write Now was fortunate enough to have Mariane Pearl serve as our emcee for the 2015 Girls Write Now Awards on May 19. She was an inspiration to many of the women in the room, including each of the honorees that night: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Pamela Paul, and Juju Chang who attended Stanford with Mariane’s husband Daniel Pearl.
Mariane co-emceed alongside Girls Write Now mentee Thasfia Chowdhury, a talented young writer among who represented all those who participate in the mentoring program.

Girls’ ideas, wisdom, and vision are a previous gift to those who listen. Girls Write Now showcases this by introducing us to a new generation of women writers… – Mariane Pearl

As the Managing Editor of Chime for Change, Mariane has focused on empowering women and girls by highlighting their stories to create change. She continues to serve as a advocate for justice and peace through female storytelling.
