Mentee alum Romaissaa Benzizoune co-emceed our first-ever virtual Graduation Gala to celebrate the hard work of the mentee class of 2020! A 2020 graduate of New York University herself, she was eager to share her thoughts about what it’s like to graduate online. Here, she reads an excerpt from a piece she wrote to process these feelings.
Romaissaa’s work has been published by the New York Times, Teen Vogue, Buzzfeed, McSweeney’s, and more. She led a column writing workshop in April 2018 for Girls Write Now mentees and we’re thrilled to announce that she’ll be returning as a guest teaching artist this July for a workshop on Op-Ed Writing as part of our extended summer programming.
