The Fifth Annual Girls Write Now Awards will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017, from 6-9:30 PM at City Winery in NYC.
For nearly 20 years, Girls Write Now has been mentoring the next generation of women. Now more than ever, we are championing the power of these brave, new voices, and the women who are paving the way.
Join us as we present the “Rise Speak Change” Award to Zadie Smith, author of Swing Time, On Beauty and White Teeth. We are also honoring Sophia Amoruso, Founder & Author, Girlboss; Ilana Glazer, Co-creator & Co-star, Broad City; Melissa Harris–Perry, Editor-at-Large, Elle.com; Abbi Jacobson, Co-creator & Co-star, Broad City, with Elaine Welteroth, Editor of Teen Vogue, as our emcee for the evening.
The Girls Write Now Awards will include a cocktail reception and hors d’oeuvres, the awards ceremony, a performance by a Girls Write Now mentor-mentee pair, and a live opportunity to support our future.
Past honorees have included Gloria Steinem, Chimamanda NgoziAdichie, Janet Mock, Jenni Konner, and Juju Chang, to name just a few.
