Publisher’s Weekly Announces Upcoming Publication of Girls Write Now Mentor Hanna R. Neier’s Debut Novel

Publisher’s Weekly recently announced the upcoming publication of Girls Write Now mentor Hannah R. Neier’s debut novel, When You Write Back. The middle grade book is written in letters between 12-year-old Ellie and her school-assigned pen pal, Daniel. When Ellie realizes their letters are traveling through time, and that Daniel is a Jewish kid living in 1942 Nazi-occupied Paris, she is determined to save him before time runs out. Publication is slated for the winter of 2027.

In addition to mentoring, Neier is a fiction writer, freelance editor and lifestyle writer. Her essays, interviews, critiques and lifestyle articles have appeared in The Jerusalem Post, POPSUGAR, Lilith Magazine, Kveller and Motherly, among other publications, and she is the 2025 winner of the Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award.
