There are five of us working with the different teams at Girls Write Now — one in Development & Operations, one in Communications, and three working with the different programs. Antonia Behrman is in Development & Operations, readying the office for a new year and helping the Development team wherever needed. I, Camille Fung, work for Communications working on our social media presence and updating our Tumblr. Sierra Ritz (Writing and Mentoring Program), Dakshayani Sthipam (College Bound Program) and Caroline Ver Planck (Digital Media Mentoring Program) are all a part of the Program team preparing for the new program year with orientations and trainings. We may be doing different things, but we’re ultimately all just so happy to be supporting the Girls Write Now mission!

We come from all over the country, and the world! Dakshayani is from Australia, while I’m from Hong Kong. But we all go to college in New York City — among some, New York University, Pace University, and the School of Visual Arts. We all have different interests and are studying different topics in school, but we have a shared desire to see and hear more female voices in the media, so that they may empower and inspire confidence in many more young women.
So far, the Girls Write Now team has been fantastic to work with! We had a fun two days of orientation in the office, where we came in from our respective areas of Manhattan and bonded together. Immediately, we know that we’ve been trusted with actual, real work to help  Girls Write Now — rather than getting coffee or taking notes at a corporate meeting, we’re helping the organization continue to do its wonderful work. Being in an office with so many passionate, feminist ladies who are devoted to their cause and work is simply inspiring. We all look forward to working together this fall and helping to ensure the success of Girls Write Now!
