Online event; open to all mentees, mentors, and mentee alum only.
Now that you have written a great manuscript, or have started one, what’s next? How do you get your work out there in the world? The first step is to write a solid query letter to attract a reputable literary agent who will sell your book to a publisher and negotiate your contract. At this workshop, you will learn the components of a query letter, draft one if you haven’t already, then share and receive expert feedback from some of the top literary agents in publishing. At this event, you will also get the opportunity to learn about book proposals and how to navigate them. Ask all your burning publishing questions and learn what literary agents are looking for!
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from the pros! Participating literary agencies include Folio Literary Management, Francis Goldin Literary Agency, Sanford J. Greenburger Associates, Jane Rotrosen Agency, Thompson Literary Agency, and more!
In this two part workshop, we will start with Query Letter Writing with Samantha Wekstein, then move on to Query Letter Feedback with top literary agents.
Samantha Wekstein attended the UMD. She now lives in Westchester with her husband and dog. After internships with Sarah Jane Freymann Literary Agency and Rowman & Littlefield, she began her career at Writers House LLC. She then briefly worked as an assistant at The Agency Group before returning to Writers House for the next 5.5 years where she supported the CEO, and then the Founder, before becoming an agent. She’s been lucky to work with a variety of best-selling authors across all genres. She joined Thompson Literary Agency in 2019 where she’s excited to grow her list.
